Who are we?

Race for Diversity is a programme that aims to inspire and encourage young people to participate in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) and then later pursue a career in motorsport.

What do we do?

We work with local schools across London, Leeds, Manchester and Birmingham. Through our school engagement programme, we offer schools hands on STEM activities, career sessions and inspirational school trips.

Alongside this, we have an online Discord community that aims to create a safe space whilst also creating a sense of belonging for our young people on their journey in pursuing further education or a career in motorsport. Race for Diversity is proud to be an inclusive environment and welcomes young people aged 14-24 from all backgrounds who would like to be part of the community. It is our goal to engage and support young people from underrepresented, racially diverse, and low socio-economic backgrounds.

Why do we do it?

The Hamilton Commission highlights the significant underrepresentation of those from underserved ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds in motorsport, with less than 1% of Formula 1 employees identifying as Black and only 3% of Motorsport UK license holders identifying as Black or from ethnically underserved backgrounds.

At Race for Diversity, we’re on a mission to diversify UK paddocks by empowering young people from underserved backgrounds to pursue careers in STEM and motorsport. With 99% of students feeling they knew more about motorsport after one of our sessions and 70% of teachers seeing a boost in student confidence in their ability to pursue a career in motorsport or more broadly STEM, we’re proving that diversity drives innovation. Together with the power of our partnerships, we aim to continue to grow diversity in motorsport.
