School Engagement

Race for Diversity offers a two-year partnership with schools in which we run hands on activities, careers sessions and events to help bring STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths) to life and encourage students aged 14-15 to choose STEM subjects at GSCE and throughout further education. This can range from internal activation days to external inspirational school trips.

Our aims:
  • Increase knowledge and awareness of motorsport opportunities
  • Provide engaging and exciting experiences to raise aspirations
  • Create clear understanding of how to get started and what the next steps are
We do this through:
  • School sessions at motorsport venues
  • Engaging speakers at assemblies and careers sessions
  • Support to progress in students’ academic journey
  • Bespoke schools plan based on students’ needs

Why do we do it?

The Hamilton Commission highlights the significant underrepresentation of those from underserved ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds in motorsport, with less than 1% of Formula 1 employees identifying as Black and only 3% of Motorsport UK license holders identifying as Black or from ethnically underserved backgrounds.

Our aims:
  • Ignite and keep alive passion for the sport in a safe space
  • Foster connections with peers, role models and industry experts
  • Make the sport and industry accessible
  • Provide opportunities
We do this through:
  • Our private Discord channel with safeguarding and moderation considered for regular communication
  • Quarterly networking events and inspirational venues
  • Promotion of opportunities for Motorsport UK and beyond, supporting the goal of a more diverse and inclusive sport.
